This is such a sad thought. Some of us have invested hours and hours and numerous years on blogging. We’ve learned how to craft an engaging article with images and headlines. We’ve taught ourselves the intense work of SEO. We’ve learned how to master social media platforms and get our posts and blog out to the public.
But the day of the little blog being an awesomely followed media magnet is getting harder and harder. Sure, you might be able to pull a small audience, but the sheer competition out there now is huge. Getting on the search pages anywhere is almost impossible. When I started out, I hit page one and first position on Google search for most of my articles and posts.
Today, it’s different. There is more to it all than just writing a killer post. Is Blogging Dying? I think so. For the little bloggers, it’s another hard spot to enter and gain recognition. There are numerous big name people who have sustainable blogs, but as many well-known bloggers as there are, there are thousands who get nowhere.
Should You Blog?
I feel that having your personal website, brand and blog is still an integral part of being online. You have to build your presence and have a place where people can get to know you. They need to …. know, like and trust. So yes, you need a website.
But here’s what I think now…the blog is secondary. Your website needs to draw your audience in, give them a reason to stay on your site. It needs to be monetized and it needs to have a call to action. Just a plain blog in the network marketing industry is not going to make much headway.
Blog consistently mainly to keep the search engines crawling your site. Usually once you set up the basic look and theme of your website, it remains static. The search engines will not crawl regularly to look for updates. The blog being there and being added to consistently will attract Google and other search engines to keep you on the radar.
Learning how to blog, how to craft an article, use basic SEO, learn how to place images strategically, and write headlines that grab attention takes time. You would do well to connect with a blogging coach to learn if you are not sure of yourself.
Blogging is dying and there’s no doubt about it. The steady rise of social media marketing is replacing the written word. The popularity of videos outshines any blog. Now if you could incorporate video into your blog as many of the successful people in the know are doing, you might see a far better connection rate.
What Do You Do Now?
Build your presence and personal brand. Become experienced in a niche or subject. Present YOU as the product. This is the only way that is currently working. People don’t join companies; they join people. You need to be THE person who they choose.
Spend time looking at the top earners in your industry or niche. Mimic what they are doing and learn from their posts and statuses. Watch how their websites are put together. It works for them…so following the obvious is a good idea.
